A Pandemic Can’t Stop The Love - Jennifer K

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank has seen an outpouring of support from the community that has been incredible. Thousands of generous individuals and companies have helped to Give Hope Now, but our work is far from over. The Food Bank has seen demand for food assistance increase more than 40% in the past year and expects demand to remain at these high levels for the next two years. With a “strong front” to combat hunger, the Food Bank and its more than 1,000 partner agencies and programs provided over 50 million meals this past year. But community support is what gets the job done - volunteering, donating and raising awareness all contribute to addressing food insecurity across Pennsylvania. Thank you Thomas Subaru for your generous donation of 38,966 meals to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Together, we can end hunger. https://www.centralpafoodbank.org/

Mya 💗 - Janet G

The story of Mya...... She had been living on the streets with no place to call home. Scrounging each meal and trying to stay warm. She was brought to our shelter and we fell in love with her but finding her forever home was taking longer than we thought. She was approx 5 years old and she was repeatedly passed by for a puppy or younger dog. 😢 We were invited to attend an adoptathon at our local Subaru dealer Thomas Subaru and that was going to be Mya’s day to shine! And Shine she did!!⭐️ She was so excited to go for a car ride and strut her stuff at the event. She made lots of friends that day and captured the heart of a family that had come out to the event to meet the available dogs for adoption. Thomas Subaru’s adoptathon gave Bedford County Humane Society the opportunity to showcase our dogs and find Mya her forever home!! Thank you Thomas Subaru for hosting an awesome day for us to show off our dogs and cats waiting for their furever homes! Your continued support is greatly appreciated!!! Sincerely, Bedford County Humane Society & Mya!!💗😘

Bison Weekend Backpack Program - Beth R

Thomas Subaru delivered a check and items they collected for the Bison Weekend Backpack Program. The Weekend Backpack Program benefits the students in the Bedford Area School District by sending home single-serving food items to help cover two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, and a snack to ensure these students have food for the weekend. Every weekend, hunger is a very real experience for many of our students who live in homes with little to no food. In fact, 23% of Bedford County children are considered to be food insecure, which means that weekends cab be a long stretch. All food that is sent home is single-serving and microwavable, if necessary.

Over 500 Basket Colected for Easter for Eli - Martin G

Easter for Eli is in memory of Elias Garrett, who lost his battle with Lymphoma in 2009. Easter for Eli collects Easter baskets and delivers them to children who are hospitalized over the Easter holiday. Martin Garrett, Elias's father, shared his story with us after purchasing a vehicle from us. We quickly decided that this was something we wanted to help with. We set a goal of collecting 500 baskets and beat it for our very first year!

Everett Students Collect for Easter for Eli - Denise P

Thomas Subaru went to Everett Elementary, Middle and High Schools to collect baskets for Easter for Eli. The Everett National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society from Everett Middle and High Schools combined forces to collect and make over baskets. Mrs. Denise Prather and Mr. Nathan Rosenberger, co-advisors of the National Junior Honor Society for the Everett Middle School Chapter, read about the Easter for Eli project which honored the memory of Eli Garrett who lost his battle with Lymphoma at the age of 3. We proposed the service project to the members of NJHS. NJHS members (grades 7-9) were very excited to accept this service project and decided to ask National Honor Society (grades 11-12) to partner with us to collect as many Easter Baskets as possible for children in the hospital over Easter. Mrs. Genie Kline, Mrs. Nancy Clark, NHS co-advisors, and the NHS members did not hesitate to join them and help with the project. When National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society introduced the 'Easter for Eli' service project to the school, they were hoping to receive 30 baskets. We far surpassed our goal and donated 132 filled Easter Baskets! "The kindness and generosity of the students, teachers and staff of the Everett Middle School/High School has been simply amazing." "It is a such heartwarming feeling to know that 132 children will have a smile on their face for Easter in honor of Eli Garrett." The National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society would like to thank everyone at the Everett Middle School/High School who helped make 'Easter for Eli' a huge success! Sarah Steel from Everett Elementary also heard about the project and coordinated the Student Council to collect individual donations which they then assembled into baskets as a group. They were able to do a very nice service project for Easter and put together over 40 baskets for Easter for Eli.

Thomas Subaru Delivers Hope to Cancer Patients - Breanna S

Patients at UPMC Bedford Memorial’s cancer center on July 11 were overjoyed to receive a surprise courtesy of Thomas Subaru. The Bedford-based dealership donated 80 blankets and 50 arts and crafts kits to help make treatment a little easier for oncology patients. Thomas Subaru staff members Cheyanne Claar (Internet Sales Consultant) and Clifford Cogan (Subaru Service Advisor) delivered the items to UPMC Senior Practice Manager Clinton Dull, who passed out the gifts to patients later that day. Hospital staff were surprised and delighted to receive the donation. One staff member talked about why he already was a fan of Subaru: years ago, when his car broke down in front of a Subaru dealership, the sales team helped to push his car onto the lot and got him in a new Subaru that very day. Knowing how happy the blankets and craft kits would make the patients, though, showed him that Subaru and their retailers truly believe in making a positive impact in the community. The dealership was inspired to participate in this program, which partners with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) on the deliveries, after a Thomas Subaru staff member lost a friend to blood cancer. She saw first-hand how his passing not only affected his family and friends, but had a ripple effect throughout his community.Thank you, Thomas Subaru, for partnering with LLS and UPMC Bedford Memorial for this donation. You have our sincere gratitude for bringing hope and warmth to cancer patients and survivors.
