The 2018 Subaru Love Promise Customer Commitment Award

What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

Thomas Subaru Delivers Hope to Cancer Patients  –  Breanna S

Thomas Subaru Delivers Hope to Cancer Patients

Patients at UPMC Bedford Memorial’s cancer center on July 11 were overjoyed to receive a surprise courtesy of Thomas Subaru. The Bedford-based dealership donated 80 blankets and 50 arts and crafts kits to help make treatment a little easier for oncology patients. Thomas Subaru staff members Cheyanne Claar (Internet Sales Consultant) and Clifford Cogan (Subaru Service Advisor) delivered the items to UPMC Senior Practice Manager Clinton Dull, who passed out the gifts to patients later that day. Hospital staff were surprised and delighted to receive the donation. One staff member talked about why he already was a fan of Subaru: years ago, when his car broke down in front of a Subaru dealership, the sales team helped to push his car onto the lot and got him in a new Subaru that very day. Knowing how happy the blankets and craft kits would make the patients, though, showed him that Subaru and their retailers truly believe in making a positive impact in the community. The dealership was inspired to participate in this program, which partners with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) on the deliveries, after a Thomas Subaru staff member lost a friend to blood cancer. She saw first-hand how his passing not only affected his family and friends, but had a ripple effect throughout his community.Thank you, Thomas Subaru, for partnering with LLS and UPMC Bedford Memorial for this donation. You have our sincere gratitude for bringing hope and warmth to cancer patients and survivors.

Employees Raise Money for the Bedford Fire Dept.

The employees of Thomas Subaru in Bedford raised $600 for the Bedford Fire Department the month of May. The employees hosted a yard sale and held weekly car washes to raise the funds. The check was presented at Meet the Driver Night, where local race car drivers displayed their cars and the Bedford Fire Department brought Bertha, a recently restored fire engine. Bertha is a 1931 LaFrance fire truck, originally purchased in January 1931 by the Bedford Fire Department and in use until 1972.

Arive Alive! Don't Drink & Drive! Prom 2018

As the areas first proms of 2018 where beginning to take place, Thomas Subaru, Thomas Auto Body and Stoystown Auto Wreckers teamed up with Everett Area High School’s SADD Advisor, Kelly Winegardner to send a message this prom season. The message is blunt and to the point. It includes an wrecked car and a 10-foot banner that reads,“Arrive Alive! Don’t drink and drive!” Jay Flick, Thomas Auto Body Manager in Bedford says, “Drunk drivers put nearly 112 million people at risk because of poor decisions and dangerous habits. Choosing to drive while intoxicated can lead to extremely severe accidents that ruin lives and futures.”

Thomas Donates to Weekend Backpack Program  –  Stacy B

Thomas Donates to Weekend Backpack Program

Every weekend, many students within the Bedford Area School District go home to houses with little to no food. Hunger is a very real experience for many of our students. In fact, 23% of Bedford County children are considered to be food insecure, which means that weekends can be along stretch with little to no food. So a group of teachers developed the Weekend Backpack Program, which sends home single serving food items to help cover two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, and a snack. The employees at Thomas Subaru in Bedford, Pennsylvania where both heart broken and energized when they heard about the this program and the efforts of a group of teachers looking to make a difference. It began with a campaign to fill a vehicle full of breakfast, lunch and dinner. The employees and community were encouraged to drop off donations of food. And it didn't stop there. Morgan Fink, Service Administrator at Thomas organized a weight loss challenge amongst the staff, which raised a monetary donation of $187.00. On April 5, 2018, Thomas Subaru delivered the food and presented the Weekend Backpack program with a check. How can you help? The average cost to fill a bag is $2.50-$5.00 per student. We expect to enroll 90 students in the program, and the weekly cost is projected at $450.00. If you would like to make an immediate contribution, please send a check payable to Bedford Middle School, Attn: Weekend Backpack Program, 440 E. Watson Street, Bedford, PA 15522
